1953 - The first issue of Playboy is created by 27-year-old Hugh Hefner on his kitchen table. The issue features Marilyn Monroe as the "Sweetheart of the Month."
1955 - Playboy begins marketing cuff links that feature the Rabbit Head logo. Men throughout the U.S. wear them to associate themselves with the Playboy lifestyle. Playboy fashion is born.
1960 - Playboy enthusiasts are offered the key to the good life when Hef opens the first Playboy Club in Chicago. The Bunny Costume instantly becomes the symbol of understated sexiness and sophistication.
1966 - The Playboy Foundation is established. To date, the foundation has raised over $15 million US for various causes.
1971 - Hef purchases the Playboy Mansion, moving his empire to Los Angeles, California. The Mansion quickly becomes the epicenter of Hollywood's social scene and home to Hef's legendary invite-only parties.
1988 - Christie Hefner is elected Chairman and CEO of Playboy Enterprises, Inc. Forbes magazine named her one of the 100 Most Powerful Women in the World in 2005 and 2006.
1999 - Playboy Fashion makes its global debut spreading its fun-loving style across the world!

2007 - Playboy opens its first flagship location in Europe on London's Oxford Street.
